Work with me ☆

Developemental Editing is the right service for you if:

you’ve got a 1st draft, 100th draft or anything in between.

you want to find out if your story works on all levels.

you want to polish your story for either self-publication or querying.

you need clear, actionable feedback and a clear revision plan that you’re just not getting from beta readers or friends.

you already started querying and you’re getting full manuscript requestsbut ultimately no bites.

Here’s what you’ll get

Editorial Letter

A high-level, comprehensive review of your story to determine what’s working, what could use tweaking, and actionable next steps.

Market Analysis

A peek into what agents and readers currently seek in your genre, suggested word count, and a short list of comparative titles.

In-Line Feedback

Constructive and kind in-line Google Doc comments included directly in your story to explain what’s working at the scene level.

Follow-Up Call

A 1:1 with yours truly to discuss any feedback questions or new ideas. You’ll leave with a clear idea of how to begin the revision process.

Extra Resources

Additional workbooks, writing materials, genre cheat-sheets, and other personalized resources for you and your story.

A Developmental Edit is NOT a good idea for you if:

you’re seeking spelling, grammar, line-editing, copy editing, or proofreading.

you write non-fiction, picture books, memoir, essays, or poetry.

you’re unwilling to do a major overhaul.

you’re not open to feedback or constructive criticism.

you’re not interested in genre conventions.

Here’s how it works

Step 1.

Submit your completed draft. Make sure your draft is the version you want me to review, as you can only submit one draft per editing round.

Step 2.

I will analyze your story in 3-4 weeks. At the end, you’ll receive a big picture analysis, an editorial letter and in-line feedback.

Step 3.

Take a few days to review all of the deliverables, considering what feedback best resonates with you and record any questions that pop up.

Step 4.

Hop on a 1:1 call with me to discuss any questions you have about my feedback. You’ll leave the call with actionable next steps to carry into your revisions!

I wouldn't have the confidence to even consider publishing someday if not for the wonderful encouraging feedback and interest I received. The amount of feedback was impressive and much needed, and I would say it was worth every cent.”

– Ronnie, Queer Paranomal Crime

I’ve worked with many editors but have never come across a process as professional, organized, and thorough as yours. For instance, including these follow up emails, a follow up call, and offering yourself for post-edit feedback is so thorough, and I love it. I wouldn’t change a thing.

– Nicole, Dark Romance

“The checklist of how [my co-writer and I] compared to current published works/tropes was incredibly helpful. I'm not personally very good at fitting into genre styles, so having a sort of guide to help see how in-line we were with current trends, topics, styles, etc. really helped me focus on what needed improvement and what we did well.

– Jessica, Queer Fantasy Romance
